Zakuani in Posh frame

Gaby Zakuani is expected to be fit for Peterborough's crucial npower Championship fixture against Sheffield Wednesday at London Road.

Zakuani had been a doubt for the televised clash on Saturday evening after a dead leg forced the key central defender off during last weekend's defeat at Derby, which left Posh hovering precariously just above the relegation zone on goal difference.

Right wing-back Mark Little and centre-half Michael Bostwick could come back into the reckoning, despite both players having been previously ruled out for the season with hamstring injuries.

Posh boss Darren Ferguson said: "Gaby should be fit now and Mark and Michael have both been making good progress. Mark has been responding well to treatment and will join in training on Thursday.

"Michael has been running and he's been doing well, but I would say he has less chance of playing than Mark."

Peterborough could find themselves in the drop zone by the time they kick-off at 5.20pm, depending on results involving Barnsley and Wolves.

Sheffield Wednesday winger Jermaine Johnson is doubtful due to a hamstring strain.

Johnson was forced out of last week's home draw with Ipswich and could miss out, but striker Gary Madine, sidelined for the last five matches with a hamstring injury, is back in contention.

Defender Reda Johnson missed out last week and has not trained this due to an on-going foot problem, but he could play some part, while midfielder Seyi Olofinjan (knee), on loan from Hull, played the full 90 minutes against Ipswich.

Manager Dave Jones, who has no other new injury or suspension worries, could recall strikers Steve Howard, on loan from Hartlepool, and Chris Maguire, while midfield pair David Prutton and Rhys McCabe are also in contention.

The Owls, four points above the relegation zone, will guarantee their safety with victory.
