Kyle Vassell effort enough as Blackpool edge former club Peterborough

Kyle Vassell enjoyed a successful return from injury as he inspired Blackpool to a 1-0 success at his former club Peterborough.

Vassell grabbed the only goal at the ABAX Stadium as Gary Bowyer's men snapped a run of three successive league defeats.

He struck in the 21st minute with a shot that took a deflection off Posh defender Steven Taylor after being released by a fine pass from loanee Sean Longstaff.

It was a seventh goal of the season for Vassell - more than he managed in a two-and-a-half year spell as a Posh player.

A fine goal-line clearance from Leo Da Silva Lopes denied Blackpool an opener inside 60 seconds as he kept out a Will Aimson header and only a terrific Taylor block denied Vassell a second on the stroke of half-time.

Blackpool keeper Ryan Allsop twice made good saves to deny Posh top scorer Jack Marriott in the first half and also tipped over a Michael Doughty drive.

Half-time arrival Gwion Edwards headed two good chances over as Posh tried and failed to haul themselves level despite dominating the second half.
