McCann lands armband
Peterborough manager Gary Johnson has confirmed midfielder Grant McCann as captain for the new season.
McCann has been skippering Posh throughout the summer and scored a penalty in a 3-1 win at Barnet on Saturday.
Johnson said: "Grant McCann will be skipper against Bristol Rovers next Saturday. I can't really take it off him now, can I?
"Since he arrived here I have been looking at how he talks to the players and he talks the same language as me. I have been very impressed. He has the experience and he has earned the respect of the dressing room.
"Against Barnet he delivered another good performance in what turned out to be a very competitive game and I think he leads the team very well. I was pleased with the whole team.
"They made it hard for us but we responded well and stuck at it before breaking them down late on."
