MacAnthony explains Mclean sale

Peterborough chairman Darragh MacAnthony has defended the proposed sale of striker Aaron Mclean and insists that he will fund the purchase of a replacement. Mclean is set to complete a £1.3million move to the Championship side in the coming days but MacAnthony has calmed fears that his exit will trigger the sale of Craig Mackail-Smith and George Boyd. He told the Peterborough Evening Telegraph: "Aaron is the first major talent I've sold in my four years at the club and there were good reasons for that. "Aaron has been on the transfer list for a year and he would not be signing a new contract when his current deal runs out in 15 months. "He'd also be 28 then so the package we have received is a good one for the club. Hull finally got close to the figure I wanted and Aaron goes with all our best wishes. "We have already had meetings about finding the next Aaron Mclean. The money from Hull is being paid in stages, but the majority will go back into the club."
