Johnson targets defensive reinforcements

Gary Johnson is looking to strengthen his defensive options before Peterborough embark on their League One promotion bid. Gabriel Zakuani has seen his pre-season involvement limited by a groin injury and Posh boss Johnson is keen to bolster his rearguard before the opening game of the campaign at home to Bristol Rovers on August 7. He told the club`s official website: "Gabriel is getting a bit frustrated and that is understandable as he has been out for some time. He has yet to feature in a pre-season game and he is running out of time to make the squad for the Bristol Rovers game. "We are looking after him, the medical people are keeping an eye on his progress and specialists have also had a look, but he is hopefully not too far away. "I may look to bring another defender into the club if I can because it is important to have options. To be fair, prior to the game against Leicester, Ryan Bennett and Kelvin Langmead had forged a good partnership and overall they have done well. "We had Franck Queudrue here on trial and he would of obviously been a good signing but he received a good offer from Greece and has signed for a club out there."
