Peterborough director of football Barry Fry has revealed that striker Craig Mackail-Smith was the subject of an enquiry from a Championship club on transfer deadline day. Mackail-Smith had a tough season in the Championship last year but is already enjoying life back in League One, scoring three times in four league appearances so far. Fry said: "There were some people wondering whether or not we'd seen the best of Aaron Mclean and Craig, but they have already answered that. "They have definitely been inspired by working with Gary Johnson. They are both playing with smiles on their faces. "It's not just the goals they've scored, but the effort they are putting in. Their work-rate is phenomenal. "I kept my phone switched off on transfer deadline day and I ignored the two texts I received from a Championship club about Craig."
