Ferguson: Rams test will be tough
Posh were languishing in League Two when Ferguson took charge in January 2007 but will open their new season in front of over 30,000 fans at Pride Park.
Ferguson said: "It's a great starting fixture for us because it will show the lads exactly what they can expect this season.
"We will be up against good opposition in a great stadium in front of a huge crowd. I expect Derby to have a much better season this time around and they are the sort of team that could gather some serious momentum if they have a good start.
"Obviously we want to stop that happening on Saturday and they might not see us as ideal opponents.
"Teams with momentum from the end of the previous season tend to start well and we are certainly one of the clubs who finished well."
