Council buy London Road from Posh

City councillors had voted to purchase the land from Peterborough United Holdings Limited at a special meeting in December.[LNB]Leader of the City Council Councillor Marco Cereste said the land was a strategic site on the South Bank and owning it will allow the city to move forward with its regeneration of the area.[LNB]Posh chairman Darragh MacAnthony told the club's official website: "This is a fantastic move by Peterborough City Council to help and secure the future of football in the city and support out club which has a reach into the community that goes beyond our fans.[LNB]"We really support the vision for a community stadium and are keen to work very closely with the city council to ensure we have a first class stadium fit for our football club and other facilities from which the whole community can enjoy and benefit.[LNB]"We have the opportunity here to really put Peterborough on the map."[LNB][LNB]
