Burley's bold backing for Boyd

The Peterborough winger, who qualifies through a Scottish grandfather, made his debut for his adopted nation in the 3-0 win over Northern Ireland at Broadwood, marking his bow with a goal. And, when quizzed about a future with the senior squad, Burley refused to rule him out of his plans for forthcoming World Cup qualifiers. Asked if the nation can expect to see more of the Chatham-born player - dubbed the White Pele - the Scotland boss said: "It's something we've got to look at. He has come a long way in the last couple of years from non-league to winning promotion twice with Peterborough. "Now he is in the Championship so that will be another test for him. He is certainly one we will be keeping a close eye on. He looked a little bit nervous and maybe that was just getting used to the Scottish accents because it's all a bit strange for him. "But I thought the longer the game went on, the more confident he became in very difficult conditions. He can be very pleased with his performance."
