Raith 0-2 Partick: Report

12 March 2011 19:04
Raith undone by Partick Table-topping Raith Rovers succumed to an unexpected 2-0 home defeat at the hands of Partick Thistle. The first half was a turgid affair, with both sides unable to break the deadlock. However, Raith's defensive gameplan was undone only minutes into the second half. Partick top scorer Kris Doolan scored his thirteenth goal of the season when he turned a Paul Paton cross past the helpless Raith goalkeeper Andrew McNeil. Even a triple substitution by Raith manager John McGlynn was not enough to break down the well-organised Partick defence. Douglas Hill and Stephen Simmons both had chances to equalise for Rovers, but the game was settled in stoppage time with a solo effort from ex-Everton academy left-back Patrick Boyle. The result cuts Raith's lead to only two points, but Partick remain in fourth position, sixteen points off a promotion spot.
