Goal-shy Queens still bottom

Queen of the South remain rooted to the bottom of Division One after failing to score for the eighth time this season in a goalless draw with Partick.

The visitors had the better of the early exchanges, but Thomas Stewart could only lob onto the roof of the net in the 17th minute.

At the other end, Scott McLaughlin fired just wide with his drive and defender Ryan McGuffie failed to steer his far-post header on target.

In the second half, Jags goalkeeper Scott Fox had to be alert to scramble Kevin Holt's shot clear of danger, while Nicky Clark headed wide.

Partick substitute Christie Elliot then squandered a hat-trick of close-range chances in the last two minutes as Queens held on for a point.
