Murray boost for Thistle

First Division leaders Partick welcome back Hugh Murray from suspension as they host Airdrie and he is added to the squad that defeated Hamilton 1-0 on Tuesday night.

Interim Jags boss Alan Archibald is looking to keep things fresh in a bid to gain some consistency.

"We have a few players that are suffering from slight niggles after the Hamilton game," he said.

"We have another game on Tuesday so I have to get the balance right between being protective and ensuring that we are strong enough to win."

The last time Airdrie visited Firhill they lost 7-0 and Archibald is wondering if that will affect Diamonds manager Jimmy Boyle's thinking.

He added: "They tried to sit in that day and it never worked so they may look to attack this time."

Bottom of the table Airdrie will be without the suspended defensive pair of Ricki Lamie and Marc Warren.

Youngster Grant Drummond is added to the squad as United seek a morale-boosting win. Alan Cook misses out due to an ankle knock.

Diamonds boss Jimmy Boyle said: "Thistle have one of the best home records in Britain and that shows you how tough a game this will be.

"I watched them in midweek against Hamilton and they were impressive, however we are not just going there to make up the numbers.

"We managed to draw with them at our place in the last meeting so we will take confidence from that as opposed to worrying about the heavy defeat the last time we were at Firhill."
