Partick 2-0 Morton: Match Report

23 April 2011 19:49
Thistle sting Morton Partick inflicted a 2-0 defeat on Morton in a mid-table clash at the Firhill Stadium. With both teams safe from relegation and promotion out of sight, Thistle took the opportunity to enjoy a home victory with two second-half goals. A scruffy opening first 45 minutes saw little goalmouth action, but Paul Cairney had the best chance for the hosts when he sent a shot into the grateful hands of Colin Stewart. Morton struggled to impose themselves on the clash and Derek Lyle's tame effort was the best they had to offer. The Jags seized the initiative when Jamie Campbell played in Chris Erskine on the hour to plunder a smart finish from 25 yards. Patrick Boyle then sealed the win 12 minutes later when he slotted in Martin Grehan's pull-back from the right channel.
