Partick Thistle have confirmed the appointment of Jackie McNamara as their new manager.

The former Scotland and Celtic defender has been in temporary charge of the Irn-Bru First Division club since the departure of Ian McCall on April 15.

Simon Donnelly has been named McNamara's assistant.

Thistle director David Beattie told the club's website, www.ptfc.co.uk: "We think that this appointment could prove to be a real boom for the club.

"Jackie was hugely impressive during the interview process and during his time in interim charge.

"This is, I think, an exciting time for Partick Thistle."
