Paris Saint-Germain are set to see their sponsorship deal with Emirates airline soar in the wake of their tie-up with former England star David Beckham, Emirates' senior vice-chairman Boutros Boutros indicated on Saturday.
Boutros told AFP that an extension to PSG's current deal is "on the point of being signed," confirming a report by French capital daily Le Parisien.
"The contract is ready. There are just a few details to be discussed and a date to be set aside to sign it," Boutros said.
The five-year contract does not appear to be linked to the surprise arrival of Beckham on a five-month deal as it will only come into force from the 2014-15 season.
Nonetheless, PSG clearly feel that the veteran star will give them a large dollop of global kudos with sources indicating the new deal could come in at between 18 million and 20 million euros ($24.6m-27.3m) per season.
PSG's website has even hinted the deal could hit an annual 25 million euros.
That compares with a current four million per year for their existing shirt sponsorship deal.
If the PSG website report is accurate then PSG will have landed the third-largest deal of its kind behind Manchester United's 50 million euros a year with Chevrolet from 2014-15, and Barcelona's 30 million with the Qatar Foundation and then, from next season, Qatar Airways.
The Dubai-based Emirates have sponsored PSG since 2005 and their logo has been on the kit since 2006.
Contacted by AFP, the club had no comment to make on the subject Saturday afternoon.
