PSG have not wasted their money - Ancelotti

Paris Saint-Germain coach Carlo Ancelotti told AFP on Thursday that the club have not wasted their money and that their aborted move for Carlos Tevez shows that they will not be bullied in the transfer market.

"It's true that we now have money and players at Paris but we haven't wasted our money," said the Italian.

"We have opportunities to invest. We've signed big players, who we didn't pay much for, so it was good business."

PSG signed Brazilian defenders Alex and Maxwell and Italian midfielder Thiago Motta during the January transfer window but missed out on high-profile targets including Tevez, David Beckham and Alexandre Pato.

"Tevez didn't come because we couldn't reach a financial agreement with him and his agent," said Ancelotti.

"But we sent out a strong message: we won't invest our money any which way. The transfer window was very good and I'm very happy."

PSG currently lead Ligue 1 by three points from second-placed Montpellier but Ancelotti said he was wary of a late-season charge from in-form Marseille, who have climbed to fifth place on the back of a run of four consecutive victories.

"Today, the most dangerous team is Montpellier but I think that Marseille will come back into the battle."
