Paris Saint-Germain's Italian goalkeeper Salvatore Sirigu was attacked by a man driving a scooter who hit him and damaged his car, a source revealed on Thursday.

Sirigu, 25, was at the wheel of his car in the Paris district of Neuilly on Wednesday evening when he became involved in a heated exchange with the man, who was reportedly staring at Sirigu's female companion.

Without removing his helmet, the man is thought to have headbutted Sirigu before banging on the rear windshield of his car.

Sirigu trained normally on Thursday and his face bore no marks from the attack, of which club officials had been unaware.
