French midfielder Blaise Matuidi has committed his future to Paris Saint-Germain until 2018, the club announced on Wednesday.

Matuidi, 26, who joined the club from St Etienne in 2011, could have left as a free agent at the end of the season but has signed a four-year contract extension.

Media reports in France had linked him with a move to English Premier League club Manchester City.

He is the second player to put pen to paper on a new contract in recent weeks, following Brazilian-born Italian midfielder Thiago Motta, who signed on until 2016.
