Ligue 1 club Nice on Tuesday confirmed the signing of Mathieu Bodmer, who was a free agent after being released from the final year of his contract with French champions Paris Saint-Germain.

Nice did not confirm the length of deal agreed with Bodmer, but sources claimed it was a two-year contract.

Bodmer, 30, joined PSG from Lyon in 2010 but fell out of favour and was loaned to Saint-Etienne in the second half of last season.

A midfielder by trade but also capable of playing in central defence, he once again teams up with coach Claude Puel on the Cote d'Azur, having previously played for him at Lille and Lyon.
