Anzhi scotch Eto'o PSG loan move rumours

Russian club Anzhi Makhachkala have scotched rumours that star Cameroonian striker Samuel Eto'o could be loaned out to French side Paris St Germain during the Russian Premier League's winter break.

On Monday it appeared Eto'o may be in favour of such a move. The www.insidefootball.com website reported Eto'o as telling French television channel Canal+: "If the opportunity arises, we will see."

However Anzhi press spokesman Alexander Udaltsov said Eto'o has since categorically denied telling French media he would consider the opportunity to turn out for PSG.

"When we contacted him Eto'o said these rumours are completely false," Udaltsov said. "He didn't say anything about this move. He will confirm it later on the Anzhi official site."

It is not the first time Eto'o, who joined Anzhi on a multi-million euro move in August, has been linked with a loan move away from the club -- which is based in Dagestan, one of Russia's most impoverished and violent regions.

Earlier this month La Gazzetta dello Sport claimed Eto'o had approached former club Inter Milan about a possible loan move back to the nerazzurri during the Russian winter break, which lasts from November to March.

On that occasion Eto'o was back in Milan for a visit during the international break and went shopping in Milan's chic commercial area with his wife.

The newspaper claimed he could sign a loan deal similar to the one that brought David Beckham to AC Milan during the Major League Soccer (MLS) off-season in the United States.

It said Eto'o could play for two months in January and February once the transfer window opens again on January 2 before returning to his club for the start of the new Russian season on March 3.

However, no reply was issued to these rumours either by the Russian club or by Eto'o himself.
