Anxious finish for Montpellier as PSG win

Montpellier were left needing a draw at Auxerre to claim their first ever Ligue 1 title on Sunday after a protest by home fans held up their final match and second-placed Paris Saint-Germain won 2-1 at Lorient.

Auxerre fans threw tennis balls and toilet rolls onto the pitch at Stade Abbe Deschamps in protest at their club's relegation, which held up the second half by 15 minutes.

Montpellier were drawing 1-1 with around 20 minutes remaining when home fans threw flares onto the pitch, forcing the players to go off again.

PSG will win the title if Montpellier lose at Auxerre.
