Ancelotti to recruit 3 or 4 players in summer

Paris Saint-Germain boss Carlo Ancelotti said he was aiming to sign "three or four players" during the summer, with the stress on recruitment that lent the club a "French soul".

"The team will be reinforced. We'll sign on three or four players, but I want PSG to have a French soul because the feeling of belonging helps to make the difference," Ancelotti told Gazzetta dello sport.

Ancelotti, who previously coached Chelsea (2009-11) and AC Milan (2001-9), said the key to squad balance was a backbone of home-grown talent.

"At Chelsea, there's Cole, Lampard, Terry; at Milan there's Ambrosini, Nesta, Gattuso, Abate, Antonini; at Real Madrid there's Casillas, Sergio Ramos, Xabi Alonso.

"Here (at PSG) there's the Sakhos, Sissoko, Bodmer, Hoarau and Jallet who must play this role."

Ancelotti also said much-criticised Argentinian playmaker Javier Pastore must be given more time to settle in, citing Michel Platini and Zinedine Zidane as both having struggled in their first six months with Juventus.

Turning to the French league, Ancelotti said Sunday's match against Marseille was an "excellent chance to relaunch ourselves".

"It's also an opportunity for them because they're going through a long stretch of negative results. But they have experience and I don't think they'll be weakened by their elimination from the Champions League."
