Ancelotti not expecting divine intervention

Paris Saint-Germain boss Carlo Ancelotti isn't expecting any favours this weekend from the powers above with his side seeking a first Ligue 1 title since 1994.

PSG go into Sunday's final fixture three points adrift of leaders Montpellier and Ancelotti is more interested in focusing on his side's trip to Lorient rather than hoping for divine intervention.

"I am Catholic but I think god has other things to think about than PSG," Ancelotti said on Saturday, when asked if it would take something supernatural to deprive Montpellier of the title.

"Objectively, we don't have many opportunities, to have a possibility (we can hope to win the title), we must win first but Lorient need points (in the fight to avoid relegation)," explained the Italian.

To be crowned champion, PSG require a victory at Lorient combined with a defeat for Montpellier at already-relegated Auxerre.

"Can Auxerre help us? All the matches are difficult, the final one is even harder, Auxerre have nothing to lose, for Montpellier it won't be easy, Montpellier have more qualities, more motivation, but football is strange," Ancelotti continued.

"But we must not think about Auxerre, the only possibility for us, is to start by winning against Lorient, and after we will see what happens at Auxerre," Ancelotti added.

Asked if he would be rooting for Auxerre, the former Juventus, AC Milan and Chelsea man responded that he would simply prefer to say "Forza PSG".
