Palermo deny Cavani exit

Palermo have been forced to deny rumours that star striker Edison Cavani will be sold in January after reports this week linked the Uruguayan with a move to Serie A leaders Internazionale.

The Rosanero are off the pace in 13th and Cavani is by far and away their most saleable asset, having been a first-team regular at the club since the departure of Amauri to Juventus last summer.

Club President Maurizio Zamparini issued a stern denial of the link, telling reporters: "I've never met anyone from the Nerazzurri club.

"It's misconduct from his agent who is moving in a disorganised fashion. If I have evidence, I will start an official warning on behalf of the club.

"He is very important for us, we are doing very well and we don't need money. I have not built Palermo to sell."
