Serie A side Palermo inadvertently announced the signing of Catania defender Matias Silvestre in an article on the club's official website.

Silvestre's cross-Sicily transfer has long been in the pipeline but neither side had made it official until Palermo's gaffe.

In an article on their website detailing their acquisitions and departures, Palermo included Silvestre, saying he cost the club 7.3 million euros.

In total the club have spent 28.53 milllion euros in acquiring 15 players while goalkeeper Slavatore Sirigu and playmaker Javier Pastore have both left for Paris St Germain in big-money sales.
