Anthony Tonkin started his career in 1998 with Yeovil Town and played for the English semi-pro national team. He signed for Stockport in 2002 for £50,000 and turned professional but he only stayed at the club for one year before signing for Crewe for £150,000. He was injured in his first season and was only used as a backup player in his first season but in the 04/05 season, he became a first team regular making 35 appearances.
