Wilder offers wise words to Us

Oxford boss Chris Wilder branded his players as "naive" after they failed to capitalise on a numerical advantage against Aldershot. The Shots had Jamie Vincent sent off after 43 minutes at the Kassam Stadium following two yellow cards for separate challenges on Alfie Potter, but overcame that setback to run out 1-0 victors thanks to Marvin Morgan's fourth goal of the season just before the hour mark. "We've really killed ourselves, we've shot ourselves in the foot," said Wilder. "The two things we said at half-time was not to take chances because Morgan is a threat on the break, and to pass it quick and wide, and we didn't do that. "In the first half we were excellent and started off with a great tempo, and moved the ball around really well. There were no problems with the sending-off - Alfie got taken out twice. I thought the ref made the right decision in sending the boy off. "In the second half we played well for 10 minutes and got into good crossing positions but after that we were naive and inexperienced. The longer the game went on, the goal gave them something to hang their hat on, they sat deeper and deeper, and we lacked that experience you need in those situations. "But you can't have it both ways. The young players in my team have got to learn. But they were pretty naive and inexperienced in the second half and made some poor decisions."
