Wilder: Margin of defeat was harsh

Oxford manager Chris Wilder felt the scoreline was a little harsh on his side as they went down 3-1 against Shrewsbury. Second-half goals from Mark Wright, David Davies and Lionel Ainsworth inflicted the damage against the mid-table Us who signed off their first season back in the Football League with a defeat. "We more than held our own up until the first goal but then we missed the most glorious chance a footballer could wish for to equalise and from there Shrewsbury took their chances," Wilder said. "It was a difficult afternoon for Shrewsbury with what was at stake but it was the last game of the season, we wanted to win so it was a real match and I`m a bit disappointed to be honest. "The last 20 minutes probably summed up our season. We were well in the game and holding our own until then but the opposition broke away and took their chances. "We will now do the necessary work through the summer and I won`t be hanging about. We will be bringing in players at the top, so I`ve told all my players that they need to be more consistent."
