Oxford manager Chris Wilder believes his new loanees have already improved his side despite the defeat to Rotherham. Wilder handed Steven Maclean, Ben Futcher and Paul Wotton their debuts in the defeat at Don Valley Stadium and feels his new signings will make an even bigger difference with a week's training under their belts. "I take heart from the way we played and competed, but I don't want us to be an average team," he told the Oxford Mail. "That's why I've brought players in who I felt would make a difference, and I thought they did. They influenced players around them and I was delighted with their performances. "It has been a bit rushed with the new signings coming straight in to play, but there's no excuses, and on another day I think we could have got something.
