U's still winless after stalemate

Chris Wilder is still looking for his first league win as Oxford manager after his newly promoted side were held to a 0-0 draw by Accrington. Accrington, looking sharp after their narrow Carling Cup defeat by Newcastle, were the better team in the first half as Oxford keeper Ryan Clarke saved from Ray Putterill and Sean McConville. Striker James Constable twice went close for the U's in what was the clubs' first ever meeting. He had a volley saved by keeper Ian Dunbavin early in the second half and the Stanley stopper thwarted him again nine minutes from time following good work by Alfie Potter. The Reds finished the game strongly and Johnny Bateson saw a cross-shot fizz past the post, but it ended as a third goalless draw of the season for John Coleman's side.
