Reid strike sees off Oxford

Stevenage boosted their hopes of reaching the play-offs with a 2-1 win at Oxford - their fourth victory in their last five away games. Record signing Craig Reid settled this battle of last season's promoted teams when he struck his first goal for Stevenage, while Oxford's prospects of reaching the play-offs suffered a blow. Former Newport County striker Reid struck three minutes into the second half after beating Oxford's offside trap. He ran onto Rob Sinclair's pass and calmly slotted past goalkeeper Ryan Clarke. Graham Westley's men went in front in the first half through an own goal. Harry Worley turned the ball into his own net after Darius Charles had headed back Luke Foster's cross. Oxford equalised in first-half stoppage time with a penalty. Peter Winn bundled over Josh Payne as he went for a header and Tom Craddock fired home the subsequent spot kick. Stevenage comfortably defended their lead in the second half as Oxford ran out of ideas. Jake Wright had a prodded shot saved and Alfie Potter drove into goalkeeper Chris Day's arms from 20 yards.
