Potter boost for Oxford

Oxford could be boosted by the return of Alfie Potter for the clash with Torquay at the Kassam.

The U's were beaten 3-2 at home by Dagenham on Tuesday, a game the 23-year-old missed with a hamstring injury, but Potter, who has already scored five times this season, has a chance of returning against the Gulls.

Elsewhere it remains to be seen whether Chris Wilder will make changes to his backline, which included the recalled Michael Raynes in place of Johnny Mullins on Tuesday, having described his side as looking "dodgy all night at the back."

Midfielder Liam Davis is pushing for selection having made his first appearance of the season against John Still's men, having recovered from a groin injury.

Oxford go into this match in 18th position in npower League Two and have only beaten Torquay once in their last nine meetings in all competitions.

Torquay will be without two key players as they look to bounce back from defeats to Harrogate Town and Barnet.

The Gulls will travel without top scorer Rene Howe and goalkeeper Michael Poke having lost 1-0 to the Blue Square North side and then at Underhill.

That Barnet defeat saw Howe pick up his fifth booking of the season which will rule the 10-goal striker out of the trip to the Kassam while Poke injured his groin and had to be replaced after half-time by Martin Rice.

The former Exeter keeper will make his first start of the season against Chris Wilder's men while Ryan Jarvis is expected to deputise for Howe.

Martin Ling's side, who sit in eighth place in npower League Two, have only won once on their travels this season.
