Kitson back for U's
Oxford will have Dave Kitson available when they welcome Southend to the Kassam after the striker served his one-match ban for five yellow cards.
Manager Chris Wilder also has fellow forward James Constable back in contention after a good week of training. The former Kidderminster striker made an appearance from the bench at Hartlepool last weekend, just three weeks after chipping a bone in his foot.
Also available again is Max Crocombe. The goalkeeper had been sidelined with a shoulder injury but looks set to sit on the bench after on-loan shotstopper Shwan Jalal returned to parent club Bournemouth.
Captain Jake Wright and Jon Meades are still sidelined while Andy Whing serves the second match of his three-game suspension.
Southend manager Phil Brown can call on the services of Ben Coker.
The versatile Coker is available again after completing a one-match suspension for the red card he received in the 1-1 draw against Bury.
Striker Barry Corr and on-loan Fulham forward Cauley Woodrow both enhanced their claims for a promotion to Brown's starting XI after scoring for the reserves in midweek.
Midfielder Marc Laird (hamstring) is still two weeks away from a return to training.
