Kitson starts two-match ban

Oxford will be without the suspended Dave Kitson for the top-of-the-table clash with Scunthorpe.

The experienced striker picked up his 10th booking of the campaign in the 3-2 defeat to Plymouth on Boxing Day and will miss Oxford's next two games.

Injured trio Alfie Potter, Jon Meades and Andy Whing all remain sidelined until February.

U's boss Chris Wilder could choose to shuffle his pack for a game which pits second against third, two sides separated only by goal difference.

Scunthorpe will be without suspended leading goalscorer Sam Winnall.

Winnall, who struck his 10th and 11th goals of the season in the Boxing Day draw at Bury, was shown a second yellow card for overdoing the celebration of his second and sits out a one-game ban.

Matt Godden and Chris Iwelumo are vying to step in for Winnall alongside Deon Burton, while midfield pair Michael Collins (calf) and Matt Sparrow (hamstring) are hoping to be involved following injury.

Defender Andy Dawson remains sidelined with the hip injury which has kept him out since November as Russ Wilcox takes charge of his second game since being made permanent manager.
