Strike pair set to continue

Oxford manager Chris Wilder could give his new-look strike duo the nod again when Rotherham visit the Kassam.

Alfie Potter and Deane Smalley scored the goals which beat Port Vale on Saturday as they continue to keep James Constable and Tom Craddock out of the side.

And the pair, who had rarely played as a front two until the back-to-back victories last week, look likely to line up together again.

Former Reading midfielder Scott Davies made his Oxford bow with a minute to go against Micky Adams' men having signed a deal until the end of the season on Friday and the 24-year-old looks likely to be involved again.

Wilder introduced Andrew Whing at the break for Adam Chapman but confirmed that it was a tactical switch rather than because of an injury to the former Sheffield United man.

And after a second-half display described as `immense' by his manager, Whing could come into the starting line-up against Steve Evans' men.

Evans is hoping winger Daniel Kearns can shake off a hamstring injury.

Kearns, on loan from Peterborough, has missed the last two matches, but is aiming to prove his fitness in time to be included in the squad.

The Millers could also be boosted by the return of goalkeeper Scott Shearer, who returned to full training on Monday following surgery to repair a damaged elbow.

Evans has no new injury or suspension worries, while the likes of strikers Kayode Odejayi and Jordan Slew, plus midfielder Courtney Cameron are among those pushing for recalls.

Defender Craig Morgan is also hoping to return to action having been sidelined since mid-November due to a broken bone in his foot.

The Millers, two points adrift of an automatic promotion spot, are bidding to extend their unbeaten league run to six matches.
