Jake on Wright track

Oxford look set to be handed a fitness boost ahead of the visit of Northampton with captain Jake Wright on the verge of a return.

The U's skipper returned to training on Monday and is expected to come back into the squad after recovering from a groin injury which sidelined him for four weeks.

It remains to be seen whether Michael Raynes will keep his place in the side despite Wright's return, but one player who looks set to start is Andy Whing.

The midfielder is available again for the clash at the Kassam after missing their last three games through suspension.

Chris Hackett and Roy O'Donovan are both rated as 50/50.

Winger Hackett (groin) was forced off just before the hour-mark in last weekend's long-awaited 2-0 victory at AFC Wimbledon - Town's first win in nine attempts and only their second this season.

Striker O'Donovan (ankle) was also replaced in the closing stages of the clash and the pair will be given as much time as possible to prove their fitness ahead of the trip to the Kassam Stadium.

Clive Platt (calf), Matt Heath (thigh), Alex Nicholls (broken leg), Kelvin Langmead (knee) and Lewis Hornby (back) all remain unavailable.
