Potter boost for U's

Oxford will be handed a major injury boost with the return of Alfie Potter against Mansfield.

The influential winger had been missing since injuring his ankle in November but made an unexpected return to the squad for the 1-1 draw with Bristol Rovers last weekend.

And having taken part in full training all week he looks likely to get some game time against the Stags along with Fulham winger Ryan Williams who trained on Thursday having been suffering with a calf problem.

Caretaker boss Mickey Lewis is also "very optimistic" that Sean Rigg will declare himself fit to feature having been sidelined recently with a calf problem.

Lee Beevers could come back into contention for Mansfield.

The 30-year-old missed Saturday's win over Southend with a shoulder problem but after scans showed he can play for the time being, Paul Cox may opt to restore the defender to his squad.

Beevers, along with a few other first-team players, were expected to be given a run out for the Stags' reserves against Rotherham in midweek, only for the fixture to be postponed.

Ben Hutchinson returned to the bench against Phil Brown's side following a hamstring problem and is pushing for a start, while a knee injury keeps striker Jake Speight sidelined.
