U's wait on Kitson

Oxford will assess striker Dave Kitson's fitness ahead of the visit of Bury to the Kassam.

The former Reading striker made the perfect start to life at his new club in the 4-1 victory over former employees Portsmouth on Saturday but missed out in midweek with a rib injury.

Manager Chris Wilder rang the changes for the 4-0 loss to Charlton in the Capital One Cup with Alfie Potter and Deane Smalley, who both netted twice at Fratton Park, sitting on the bench at The Valley.

Along with Sean Rigg they look likely to return to his starting line-up but Jonathan Meades remains sidelined with his leg injury sustained during pre-season.

Bury could make changes for the first time this season.

Boss Kevin Blackwell was rewarded for sticking with the same XI in midweek as the Shakers defeated Crewe 3-2 in the Capital One Cup to set up a Round 2 clash with Norwich.

However, Blackwell revealed that one or two unnamed players had sustained knocks following that performance and it would be touch and go if they would face the U's.

Furthermore, Jordan Sinnott could come into the manager's thoughts following his arrival on loan from Huddersfield.
