Constable set to start

Leaders Oxford look set to hand James Constable a start as the striker searches for a historic milestone against Bristol Rovers.

The former Chippenham forward knows a goal in front of a bumper crowd at the Kassam would be his 100th for the club and move him level with Tony Jones, who is currently second in the club's all-time goalscoring list.

The U's will also be boosted by the return of two key players against the Pirates.

Dave Kitson is available again after serving a one-match ban for his red card against Exeter while Alfie Potter has returned to full training having missed the last four games with a hamstring injury.

Bristol Rovers' new signing Chris Beardsley will be involved when they make the short trip.

The Preston striker joined the Pirates on Thursday on a one-month loan deal and could come straight into the starting line-up.

And manager John Ward will check on the fitness of two key players before making the journey. Striker Matt Harrold has been sidelined for almost a month with a groin injury while defender Lee Brown has been struggling with a hamstring problem in recent weeks.

The pair will be assessed ahead of kick-off as Ward's men look to build on their point last week against Chesterfield.
