Oxford earn first home league win of 2016 in fine style against York

Oxford recorded their first home league victory of 2016 with a commanding 4-0 win over struggling York.

Jordan Bowery scored his fourth goal in eight days before Chey Dunkley, Danny Hylton and Kemar Roofe rounded off a dominant display.

Oxford are now eight points clear in Sky Bet League Two's automatic promotion places, while the Minstermen remain in the relegation zone.

After firing wide early on, Bowery opened the scoring after 15 minutes. York goalkeeper Michael Ingham could only push a Callum O'Dowda shot straight at the striker, who guided the ball home.

Ingham was then forced to deny Liam Sercombe, Jonjoe Kenny and Hylton in quick succession.

Oxford continued in the same vein after the break and it was 2-0 in the 72nd minute when Dunkley headed home.

Hylton then fired a ferocious shot into the bottom corner for 3-0, before Roofe had the easiest of tap-ins for Oxford's fourth with six minutes to go.

York offered precious little, failing to register a shot on target, as they lost for a fourth straight game.
