Oxford up to second in League Two after win

Oxford turned on the style in the second half to beat Exeter 3-0 at the Kassam Stadium and move second in League Two.

Superb strikes from John Lundstram and George Baldock were added to by a late third goal from Liam Sercombe against his old club.

The Grecians had been defending well but in the 48th minute goalkeeper Bobby Olejnik was powerless to keep out Lundstram's brilliantly-placed side-footed shot from 25 yards after her was set up by Alex MacDonald.

Kemar Roofe almost added a second 10 minutes later with a stabbed shot after a slick one-two with Sercombe.

Then after 67 minutes right-back Baldock hammered in a second with a low 20-yard shot that took a slight deflection to bounce over the diving Olejnik's arms.

And in the 89th minute, Sercombe ran through and chipped the goalkeeper to make it 3-0.

Exeter gave as good as they got in the first half, with Sam Slocombe saving low to his right from Ollie Watkins after great work by Tom Nichols.

Oxford centre-back Chey Dunkley, having just been booked for a foul, was lucky not to see red with a late challenge on Watkins before the break, and some Exeter players were incensed at the ref's leniency.
