Wanderers fightback earns derby draw Wycombe fought back from two goals down to earn a precious point in a pulsating 2-2 draw at Oxford. The Chairboys came back to stay in second place at the end of a local derby watched by over 9,000 at the Kassam Stadium. Alfie Potter helped put the hosts seemingly in control of the match early in the second half. The winger scored a fine goal in the 34th minute as he shot over goalkeeper Nikki Bull high into the net from the edge of the area after Simon Heslop played him through the middle. He then made a second soon after the restart when centre half Dave Winfield turned the ball into his own net. Scott Rendell pulled a goal back for the Chairboys midway through the second half with a well-placed header beyond goalkeeper Ryan Clarke. And three minutes later, sloppy defensive play from the home side allowed substitute Jon-Paul Pittman space to volley in the equaliser. Despite falling behind, Wycombe always looked threatening going forward, and Oxford keeper Clarke made a brilliant double save from Kevin Betsy at the end of the first half. The stirring comeback extended Wycombe's unbeaten run to five games.
