Oxford striker James Constable has been named captain ahead of the Us' first season back in the Football League. The former Kidderminster man netted 26 goals in all competitions last season and led the team out at Wembley in the play-off final win over York City. Constable told the club's official website: "I'm delighted that the gaffer (Chris Wilder) has chosen me as his captain. It's a role that I enjoy and it's something that makes me very proud. As a player there's no bigger honour than leading your side out." Meanwhile, Wilder is expected to give his new signings a run out in their first pre-season friendly at Didcot Town on Friday night. Wilder has added Simon Eastwood, Ben Purkiss, Asa Hall, Mitchell Cole, Simon Heslop and Richie Baker to his squad ahead of the new season.
