Day back in action

Oxford defender Rhys Day has made his return to competitive football after nearly five months out with a knee injury. The 28-year-old former Manchester City man, who has not played for the Us since their Conference play-off victory over York in May, played 70 minutes for United in their 2-1 friendly victory over a Fulham XI. The fixture was played at Fulham's training ground and also saw defender Anthony Tomkin complete 60 minutes after overcoming illness. United Assistant Manager Mickey Lewis told the club's official website: "It was a good work out and a game that we definitely shaded. "Anthony Tomkin played for an hour and Rhys Day got 70 minutes under his belt which was good for us to see and overall there are plenty of encouraging signs that came out of the match."
