Crawley return interests Cook

Jamie Cook admits he was wrong to ever leave Crawley Town and would consider a switch back to the Reds this summer. The 30-year-old striker was sold to Oxford United on transfer deadline day last August, but his stay at the Kassam Stadium has not been a happy one and last week he was put on the transfer list by manager Chris Wilder. And, speaking exclusively to the Crawley News, Cook admitted he would love to return to the club where he played the best football of his career. He said: "I thoroughly enjoyed myself at Crawley and I still get on well with Steve Evans. I don't know if it will be possible but from a footballing point of view it would be brilliant to go back. "I have nothing against my time there. The club is well run by good people but we'll see what happens." Cook, who scored 33 goals in 78 appearances for the Reds in two seasons at the Broadfield, also said he would not have left Crawley for any other side in the Blue Square Premier other than Oxford. "I left because Oxford were my home town club who I grew up supporting but it hasn't really worked out for me," he added. "I spent all of last season playing out of position so I guess with hindsight it was a mistake to leave Crawley." Evans has repeatedly said that Town would have made the play-offs if he had been able to hold onto his star players and would relish the opportunity to re-sign Cook who originally played for him at Boston United. However, one potential stumbling block for any deal could be that Crawley would be unable to match his wages at Oxford, although Cook may be willing to have a pay cut rather than spend a season in the reserves. "I've got another year on my contract which is obviously a consideration but I want to play football and it doesn't look like I will be getting much opportunity to do that if I stay," added Cook. "I need to take some time to consider the position and see what options there are for me. "I've only just been told that if I want to find somewhere else then I can. As far as I know there hasn't been any contact at the moment." Source: this is Sussex   Fancy a flutter with paddypower?
