Clist close to comeback

Simon Clist is stepping up his comeback after making a brief appearance in Oxford's 3-1 victory over Northampton last weekend. The midfielder has suffered from an injury-plagued start to the season, having a hernia operation and struggling with niggling injuries since the summer. The former Tottenham trainee only appeared for a 10-minute cameo against Northampton, but he played a part in The U's vital third goal, being brought down for a penalty in the closing stages. Clist told the Oxford Mail: "It was nice to play a part in the game on Saturday and to contribute something, it is frustrating not to have been involved more, but I can't have any complaints because I have been injured and the lads that have played have done well. "When I do get a chance, that's when I've got to be ready for it."
