Oxford ease to victory

Liam Davis notched his second goal since joining from Northampton to inspire Oxford to a 2-0 victory at Barnet and secure the club`s fourth league win of the season.

The 24-year-old defender, released by the Cobblers this summer, has enjoyed a new lease of life under Chris Wilder and grabbed the U's second goal after 38 minutes.

Simon Heslop had put Oxford ahead just minutes earlier, with the only blot on a successful afternoon for the visitors coming with skipper Jake Wright`s stoppage-time dismissal.

Barnet thought they had taken the lead after 19 minutes when Mark Hughes fired home, only for the goal to be ruled out for handball.

The Bees then went behind in the 33rd minute when Alfie Potter's cross was deflected into the path of Heslop, who rammed the ball home from 25 yards.

Oxford doubled their advantage before the break after Peter Leven flicked the ball up and Davis fired in.

Hughes forced Ryan Clarke into a smart save shortly after the restart before Izale McLeod squandered the Bees' best of the second half, heading over Danny Senda's cross.

The final action of the afternoon came in the 91st minute when Wright collected his second yellow card for a foul on Sam Deering.
