Aldershot 1-2 Oxford Utd: Report

08 January 2011 17:49
Craddock seals Us win Tom Craddock struck late as Oxford moved into the top 10 of npower League Two with a 2-1 win over Aldershot - their first ever league victory over the Shots. The visitors had taken the lead against the run of play in the eighth minute when Damian Batt advanced well down the right and swung over a wicked cross that Anthony Charles could only divert past his own keeper. The second half started in a similar vein to the first, Aldershot full of running but lacking any real end product. Aldershot continued to press for an equaliser but, with only seven goals at home all season, it was an uphill struggle - midfielder Luke Guttridge's long range drive the best they could muster. The Shots didn't lose heart and looked to have earned a deserved share of the spoils in the 76th minute when Guttridge stooped at the far post to scramble in Anthony Straker's left-wing cross. It wasn't enough however, and Craddock's low drive with just four minutes remaining squirmed under Jamie Young sending Aldershot to their fourth successive home defeat.
