Thompson free to leave Latics

Oldham Athletic manager John Sheridan has made John Thompson available for transfer.

The 26-year-old has been told he is free to find another club and Sheridan is willing to accept a loan deal for the defender.

Thompson joined the Latics on a free transfer from Nottingham Forest just over 12 months ago but has featured in only 12 games for the club and has not been involved in the first-team squad since March.

Meanwhile, midfielder JP Kalala is still available for a permanent or loan switch away from Boundary Park.
