Published: 18 Mar 2010 - 15:15:38

The Cabinet members voted unanimously in favour Oldham Council have been considering Athletic's proposals for their new stadium in Failsworth. The move has been delayed many times and the local authority have now had to seek clarification from the Charity Commission about the legal status of the proposed land. A new officers' report has asked members to approve a series of new recommendations which affect the land to the north of the Lancaster Club. Recent advice given to the Council suggests that the land in question should be regarded as charitable land and a new approach is now be made to the Charity Commission to request that this area of land be registered as a trust. The plan is to find a suitable site that can be swapped for the new charitable land. The Cabinet members voted unanimously in favour of the proposals.
